Technical Q&A QTW32
Saving Color Palettes without DeBabelizer

Q Is there a way to save a movie with an 8-bit Windows-system color palette (other than with DeBabelizer)?

A When Windows operates in an 8-bit color mode, the system reserves 20 of the 256-colors in the palate for itself. If you limit your color palette to 236 entries, you can use any 236 colors and still satisfy Windows. DeBabelizer is the best tool available for palatizing. It creates a color look-up table that is both Windows and Macintosh compatible.
